Purrgatory Tower is a game for GMTK Game Jam 2024 "Built to Scale". The player will take on the role of a chaotic cat that interrupts the Satan summoning ritual and ends up in hell. The player needs to climb up the blocks that Satan dropped to you. The player can rotate the block and taunt the Satan to make the block drop faster.

About This Project

Team Size: 9 members.

My Position: Background Artist

Purrgatory Tower is the first game I made with Earth Quack Games. I agreed to join this jam and forgot that it overlaps with my exam week.(lol) It's a very short time but huge experience that brings me the connection with Earth Quack members that leads me to make another project with them.

We got an overall rank of 187th place and a style rank of 26th place!

Concept Art

In this jam, I was assigned to work on the background. Since it's set in Hell, I'm using sharp shapes in most of the objects to make them look aggressive.

Game Assets/ Environment

I making modular assets and then mock-up the scene in Unity to see how the object really places in the real game.

I also made a script that made the background parallax with the camera.

modular assets with naming format

I put alpha sprites between the object layer to blend the far object into the background like a fog.

I hid some monster in the background that's cheering you up(?) from far away.
